It is hard to look for legitimate work from home jobs, and it’s even tough to look for the ones that hire someone with no prior experience or a complete beginner.

The online jobs listed below are excellent entry level work from home jobs and can be a good fit for you if you have started searching just now.

Below are some of entry level online jobs for beginners,

Customer Service

Of all the work-at-home roles, customer service roles are the most wanted, because of their flexibility. You have to keep in mind that most of the customer service jobs require you to be on the phone.

Many companies offer online customer service roles like Amazon, Apple, Williams Sonoma, LiveOps, Arise, Sutherland, Working Solutions, Sitel, etc.

If you are particularly looking for non-phone jobs, here is a big list of them.

Tutoring

Online tutoring is another excellent way to start when working from home. There are different ways you can work online like teaching specific subjects, ESL tutoring, etc.

Though some of the companies require a formal degree and previous experience in the subjects you are teaching, many recruit beginners.

You can apply for companies like QKids, which don’t need any prior teaching experience and the pay is great ($16-$20/hr)! They hire in the US and Canada.

There are other teaching companies like Cambly, VIPKID, Funbulous, Tutor.com which accept tutors online.

Teaching online can be a very rewarding and fun work-at-home job when you start off for the first time.

Data Entry

Data Entry might be the first job you will look for if you are planning to work from home. Legitimate data entry jobs are hard to come by, but they are perfect to get started.

You can apply for data entry roles at companies like QuickTate, Axion Data, SpeakWrite, Cass Information Systems, Clickworker. Please keep in mind that data entry jobs are open occasionally and you need to apply fast.

Website Testing

This is a great way to start your work-at-home journey. You do not need any particular expertise to get started as a Website Tester. You will need to have a basic idea about navigating around websites and testing their functionality.

The equipment you will need for this role is a webcam and a microphone. You will have to speak out your thoughts about the test after the test is done. This could be a good beginner level job with no prior experience.

You can join companies like WhatUsersDo, TrymyUI, Usertesting, Loop11, etc.

Chat Agent

Chat Agents are another form of customer service and getting into this work-at-home career is relatively straightforward than others.

As a Chat Agent, you will be helping customers online with any queries they have regarding the company you work for through the chat. You can apply for many Chat Agent companies like The Chat Shop, Needle, Arise, etc.

Search Engine Evaluation

As a Search Engine Evaluator, you will be evaluating search results following some guidelines, and this is the most flexible job out there. It might sound very technical, but it’s not. After applying you will need to pass an exam for most of the search engine evaluator companies.

Four major companies offer these roles. You can apply for Lionbridge, Zerochaos, Leapforce, Appen. Most of these companies have positions available in many countries.

Moderation

Online moderation is also one of the beginner level jobs you can look at when starting working from home. Most of these jobs do not require any background experience, but you need to have a sound knowledge of social media, chat rooms and forums.

You can join companies like ICUC, LiveWorld, The Social Element (formerly Emoderation), ModSquad, Crisp Thinking. I see many work-at-home enthusiasts going for moderation jobs as their first job.

Online Researcher

You can also become an online researcher if you want to start with something substantial. This role does not require any expertise but a very keen eye to search for data online and a lot of patience.

Different companies have different role descriptions, but the primary responsibility is to search, collect data online and answer user questions. The companies that recruit online researchers are Wonder, Experts123, JustAnswer.

Mystery Shopper

If you are confused where to start when working from home, mystery shopping gigs could be a right place. Mystery shopping is a delightful work-at-home job you can start with.

You can choose to be a work-at-home telephone mystery shopper or accept gigs physically going to stores. Though telephone mystery shopping involves being on the phone, it is more flexible.

The key point to work as a mystery shopper is to register for the right companies.

You can sign up for BestMark, Perception Strategies, Yardi Matrix, Talk2Rep.

Writer

If you love writing, then you can work from anywhere as a freelance writer. There are many ways you can do this, by pitching to freelance writing websites, signing up for job boards like Contena and BloggingPro.com or becoming a staff writer for prominent publications.

There are many places you can look for freelance writing gigs like Dailyworth, Babble, Upworthy, The Cosmopolitan, etc.

Freelance writing can become a six-figure job for you if you follow the tips from Holly.

The companies that regularly recruit for sales rep roles are LiveOps, American Express, Salesforce.com, Skyes, Working Solutions, Hilton Hotels, etc.

Micro Tasks

If this is your first time getting into work-at-home jobs, you might want to look into starting with side jobs first. Though side jobs don’t pay you as much as a proper work-at-home job, they give you the necessary experience to work from home.

The Micro Tasks that you can do from home are TaskRabbit, Field Agent, Amazon MTurk, Clickworker.

These micro jobs do not need any expertise, and they are an excellent starting point for your work-at-home journey.

Ridesharing

This might not be a typical work from home job but driving is one of the easiest ways to make money from home without much expertise. That is if you love driving, of course.

I know many work from home job seekers who initially get started with ridesharing programs like Lyft or Uber. They are easy, flexible and great for side hustlers.

And for a limited time when you sign up and complete your first 100 rides, you can earn a bonus of $300 with Lyft. That’s a nice perk to get started!
