Over the past eight years, I have explored different options to make money from home.
Why?
Because I firmly believe that making money from home is very much possible while taking care of kids. I want to show other work-at-home enthusiasts that earning a good income as a stay-at-home parent is possible.
It is true.
I am earning a GREAT INCOME working from home and have the time to do things I love, be around my family without any work restrictions, and travel whenever I want.
Want to know the reason for this?
Blogging!!
I started my blog in 2016, and after only a year, I was earning almost $4,000 per month, all from the comfort of my home.
And all that from investing just $2.95/month. (This special price is only available through my link and for a limited time. That’s over 60% off the normal price.)
It is hard work. I have spent crazy hours working on my blog, but believe me, it is the most flexible way to make money from home. It is definitely worth it.
So what’s my take on blogging after one year?
I love it! It is the most legitimate way to make money from home, and anyone can do it!
There are many things that I could do after I started blogging, like spend more time with family and travel more (this is my favorite thing about blogging).
Don’t take my word for it!
Here is what some of my readers who started their blogs recently say:
I started a blog to promote my Etsy shop and give homeschooling homemaker tips. I learned to blog and bought my website and blogging education through links in Sireesha’s posts/emails. Etsy sales have increased and I earned $200 from sponsors and affiliates in just two months when I was learning.

As a mom of two kids that are not past the diapering stage yet, I can’t be thankful enough to have found a flexible work from home option through blogging. It may be baby steps to victory, but it’s truly rewarding and worth the effort. I’m just over a month into it, and have been able to exceed the goals I set for myself. I believe, you don’t need to be lucky to be a successful blogger, but just need to be equipped with the right resources so you don’t get overwhelmed.

I earned over $36,000 in the first year of blogging!! That’s something I would have never believed possible if someone told me before I started blogging.
How to Make over $4,000/month Working from Home
You can read my income reports where I started from $300 in my third month, and now I am earning around $4,000 per month.
The best part?
You can start your money-making blog for as cheap as $2.95/month (only through my link). That is absolutely nothing when compared to the money you can earn.
You also get a FREE domain (worth $10) and a single-click WordPress installation, when you sign up for a 12-month plan (which I highly recommend), so you don’t have to worry about any technical stuff.
If you want a detailed step-by-step process on how to start a blog, you can check out my tutorial.
I want to reiterate the point that I am not a techie or a professional writer, and I didn’t even have a personal account on any social media platforms before I started my blog.
You DON’T NEED ANY SPECIAL SKILLS TO START BLOGGING. All you need is the determination to make this work and the willingness to put in a lot of hard work.
I have had many comments/emails from my readers asking about different aspects of starting a blog. I want to answer them and show how easy it can be to start a blog.
Do I have to be a techie or writer to start blogging?
NO!! I am a typical stay-at-home mum, and I started my blog without having any technical or writing experience.
You don’t have to be a computer geek or a professional writer to start a blog. If you can navigate around the web, then you can start a blog.
The one thing you will need is the passion for writing about what you like/love.
Can I blog from anywhere?
YES!! Blogging is an excellent example of location-independent income. You can be anywhere on the globe and start your blog.
The only thing you would need is a computer and an internet connection. This the BIGGEST ADVANTAGE of blogging; it is a remote hustle.
Is it a long process to start a blog?
It just takes 5 to 10 minutes to start a blog; can you believe it?! Just head over to Bluehost to buy your hosting, and from there, it is only a matter of a few minutes till your brand new blog is ready.
If you want an easy detailed tutorial, check this out. It is as easy as that.
I don’t know what to blog about.
Before I started my blog, I knew clearly what I wanted to write about. There is one piece of advice I can give: write about something you are passionate about. It does not matter how narrow the subject is.
If you love what you are writing about and can provide value to others, then it can quickly become a profitable niche for you.
You can always research on Pinterest or Google to find topics to write about in your niche. You can get inspired by other bloggers in your niche and brainstorm ideas to write about.
Does it cost a lot to start a blog?
No!! You can start your blog today with a low price of $2.95 per month. That is a very small price to start a blog when you think of the income you can get.
How will I get traffic to my new blog?
I know traffic is the biggest challenge most new bloggers have.
In my personal experience, Pinterest has proved to be the most significant traffic source for me and maybe for many bloggers. Try to focus on Pinterest first to get traffic as most topics do well on Pinterest. The resource that helped me to get more traffic from Pinterest is Pinterest Strategies.
These are the questions I get all the time, and if you have any more, please comment below with your questions. I will try my best to answer them.
But the most important step that you need to take to see the change in your income (I am happy I took my step a year ago) is to start your blog now.
Blogging is indeed a great option to work from home, work around your family, and still make a considerable income.
I am doing it and can say for sure that it is the best option for anyone who wants to make money online.
OK, ready to start??
1. Brainstorm a Good Domain Name
It is the first step you take when you start a blog. A domain name is pretty much like your address on the web. For example, my domain name is crowdworknews.com.
Choose a domain name that relates to your niche. This might take some brainstorming because not all the domain names you want will be available.
You can register your domain name with any registrar such as GoDaddy or Network Solutions, or you can register the domain name directly with Bluehost.
I would suggest you go with Bluehost so that it’s not too complicated for you and you have both your domain name and hosting with one company.
You get a domain name FREE if you sign up with Bluehost for a 12-month plan. I have signed up for 36 months as it works out cheaper than paying every month.
There are free web hosting options like WordPress.com and Blogger.com, but if you are serious about making money from your blog, then you need to go with a self-hosted option.
With a self-hosted blog, you can monetize it fairly quickly, and you own all your content. If you want to start your blogging journey on the right foot, then go with self-hosted.
I have hosted my blog with Bluehost, and I’ve never had any issues with it. It offers the lowest price for hosting, and I am very pleased with its support.
2. Get Started
After you go to the homepage of Bluehost, you will see this screen. Click on “get started now.”
Then you will come to the web page below, where you have three options for hosting, namely Basic, Plus, and Prime. I am with the Basic plan, and that is more than enough for me. You can always update the plan later if you need to.
Another reason why I recommend the 12-month plan is you save a lot of money when compared to paying month by month.
The fee covers many things along with a FREE domain when you sign up for a 12-month plan, and this is just for $2.95/month (with my link)!
3. Register or Connect Your Domain Name
Now is the time to register the domain name that you chose earlier. If you have your domain name with another hosting provider, you can always transfer it here.
4. Choose Your Package
After you have given your details, you come to this screen where you have to choose your package. I started off with a 36-month plan at $2.95 per month. If you don’t want to go for a long-term plan, then you can go with a 12-month plan. It saves a lot of money.
As a beginner blogger, you don’t need to worry about the extras. If you need them, you can always update them later.
5. Install WordPress
And now for the best part, Bluehost automatically installs WordPress after you sign up for hosting so that you don’t need to do any techie stuff!
You just have to login with your WordPress credentials.
Your blog is ready!!
You need a theme to make your blog look good. You have to log into WordPress and then go to “Themes.” There will be some free ones that are available to you.
You can always use a free theme to design your blog, but if you want to go with a paid theme, then I suggest Genesis. My blog uses the Genesis theme, and I highly recommend it if you want to go for a paid one.
Send me an email if you need any help with setting up your blog, and I would be more than happy to help you out on your journey to making money online.
The post in april you said you made almost $6,000. Now it’s november and you are only making $4000? Why the decline in earnings over the past 6 months?
Hi Alice,
Thank you for commenting:-) Blogging is a home/online business and like any other business, you can have low days and up days. But the reason why blogging is so great is because of the flexibility and the money making potential. Within the first year I have started earning around $4,000/month from my blog working part time on it, so anything is possible.
So no reason you’re willing to give for the decrease in earnings over 6 months?
Hi Alice,
Sure, the reasons for the decrease in income are low referral traffic (seasonal) and I was focusing more on creating content and less on promoting. Promoting plays a big part in income. Hope that answered your question. You can read my monthly blog and income updates for more details.
I just started a blog and hoping for the best. What I need to focus on now is adding more content. 🙂 thank you for the inspiration. i’m reading more of your posts and I’m learning a lot. 🙂
Hi Alice,
Thank you so much! It’s really great to hear you started your blog, taking action is the biggest part and you did it. I hope you are going to do great:-) Let me know if you need any help.
I started a blog about a month ago and I’ve had such a hard time getting traffic to the site. I have no idea what I’m doing wrong. I post content and promote and interact with others and still no more traffic. My website is eastcoastmom.com. Any advice? Thanks so much!
Hi Elizabeth,
After observing your blog, I can suggest somethings,
I see that you have only 4 posts. I would suggest have at least 5-10 posts to start off with. Are you using Pinterest? Mom niche does very good on Pinterest and to drive traffic you need good long pins with clear message on the pin. Try to break up the post into small paragraphs.
You should be creating atleast 2 pins for each post and join group boards to drive Pinterest traffic.
Hope that helped. Let me know if you you need any more tips:-)
Hello!
My husband and I just bought a house and will be TTC sometime this year. My husband wants so bad for me to be able to stay home with the baby but financially, I don’t know how it would be possible so I’m researching ways to keep making money at home. This page is very informative and looks like it woulr give me all the tools and tips I’d need to get started but I don’t know much about blogging…How is income generated from a blog? Could you break it down for me?
Thanks in advance!
Hello Patricia,
There are many ways you can earn with a blog. You can do affiliate marketing, display ads on your blog, do sponsorships, create courses/ebooks, offer services through your blog etc. It depends on what works for you.
I very much enjoyed the article. I wish I had this info when I was starting out. ❤
Hello,
Glad you liked the post!
Thanks,
Sireesha
Hi Sireesha:
I have read your information and I really do need extra money.. I was set up to start blogging a few years ago but when I started to write the blog my mind went blank, so I didn’t write one.. I have no clue for a domain name or what to write about and I sure can’t set up a website.. So I desperately need your advice… Can you help me with this?? Or should I forget about it?? Thanks so much.
Hi Shirley,
If you are interested in starting a blog, the first thing I want you to think about is your interest/passion. There are many things you can write about like fashion, home décor, craft, gardening etc. Finding what you love is the key to starting a successful blog. Domain name (you can brainstorm a name related to your niche) and setting up doesn’t take much time.
