month 2 traffic update: how i got over 25000 page views with a brand new blog

I have finished two months of blogging!!

Wow, it is amazing that my blog is two months old. Never thought I could come this far.

Last month was full of big happenings for me.

Some of my posts did really well on Pinterest. There was a big increase in my returning visitors with many of my readers subscribing to my blog.

Though I had big goals for the second month, my blog surpassed my targets in terms of traffic, and the bonus was that I started making money from my blog.

It wasn’t much, but my first affiliate sale is something I am going to remember for a long time.

So let’s dive into the details now.

Traffic

This is my major win; my traffic skyrocketed, and the biggest sources were Pinterest, StumbleUpon, and Facebook.

Some of my posts that are doing well include

Do you want to know the biggest secret to my climbing traffic? I devoured Lena Presley Gott’s Traffic Transformation.

It is full of actionable tips to bump up your page views. If you are starting out or even if you have been blogging for some time, I cannot stress enough how this incredible resource can help you make your traffic grow.

Subscribers

Last month I had 45 subscribers, and this month my list has grown to 130. I am happy that I have reached my goal for this month. The biggest reason for my growth was that I started sending the latest work-at-home jobs to my subscribers.

Another thing that spiked my list is that I am doing a lot of offline marketing and reaching out to more and more people who are looking for side hustles.

Pinterest

I had 280 followers in August, and this month it has grown to 560. I know it is still a small number, but I am hoping to increase it to 2,000 by next month. The best part is Pinterest has become my number one referral.

What made this happen?

Tailwind.

I signed up for Tailwind this month and started scheduling around 50 pins a day. What I like about Tailwind is the analytics. I still use BoardBooster for pinning to group boards and for its looping feature. I think using the best features of these two tools is the reason for my Pinterest traffic growth.

StumbleUpon

StumbleUpon is still my second referral source. I am following a simple strategy with StumbleUpon.

  • Stumble regularly.
  • Stumble other people’s content more than mine.

One thing I have observed is that list posts do well on StumbleUpon. I will continue to test some new things with this social media platform.

Facebook

This is another win for me. I have grown my Facebook likes from 50 to 670 in a month. Again, I completely attribute this win to Brittany Ann’s Strategies Worth Sharing eBook. I bought this eBook long before I started blogging, but I only implemented the tips in the last month.

Reaching 1,000 likes would be an achievement for me.

Twitter

I am still slow on Twitter. Last month, I had 200 followers, and this month I have 245. Though the growth is slow, I am happy to connect with some awesome people and hope to increase my followers next month.

Instagram

I have not been very active on Instagram. But I am experimenting with some things, like using different hashtags and posting at particular times. I started using Tag for Likes for using the hashtags. It is super useful and makes the whole process of finding the right hashtags easy. Last month I had 60 followers, and this month it’s 67. Need to work on this.

Things I did

The biggest thing that I did was finishing the Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing course. I can say I know many things about affiliate marketing now that which I was totally ignorant of before taking this course, even though I wanted to monetize my blog with affiliate marketing.

What more can I say about this course other than that I already see affiliate sales in the same month I finished it?

I am also looking forward to the interviews I am planning with some influencers, which will be very helpful for my readers.

I am very excited for what I am planning this month.

What I learned

One lesson I have learned is to be more organized about being active on all social media platforms. I have entirely neglected Instagram. Working on changing that next month.

Another thing that is necessary for your blog growth is to invest in some resources. Before starting the blog, I knew I wanted to monetize my blog, but I did not have a plan. After taking Michelle’s course, I know how to go about it. I am happy that I invested in this course.

What’s Next

Traffic

I would love to double my traffic from 25,000 to 50,000 page views. Need to work harder to reach that number.

Subscribers

I reached my target goal of 100 subscribers. My next month’s goal is to reach 300 subscribers. I planned to create an opt-in last month, but I could not get it done. This month I am definitely going to get the opt-in done, and I hope the numbers will rise after that.

Stay tuned for more fantastic interviews and more useful posts about many side hustles.

Fingers crossed, I might publish my first income update next month.
