Let’s admit it. Remote jobs or work-at-home jobs are hard to find, especially with all those work-at-home scams out there. Today, I will share some smart ways to search for real online jobs.
Before we get on with these great ways, you need to remember few things,
Because work-at-home jobs are in high demand, the positions are not open for long.
It is always good to do a thorough research about the job, even if you have found the job on a very reliable website. I do my best to search for legitimate opportunities, but I would suggest you double check.
Always keep a bunch of sites bookmarked to check if there are any roles available.
Finally, be ready to give some time to find the right work-at-home job. They are not easy to find, but eventually you will find the right one, if you persist.
If you want an easy checklist on how to search for a work-at-home job, I have a simple, step-by-step checklist. This can guide you to find your first work from home job easily.
Now, let me share how to search for authentic jobs online in a smart way.
Do the Good old Google Search
I don’t mean that you should believe every website which is showing up for work-at-home jobs, but doing a google search gives you an outline of some perfect places you start searching for jobs.
Try to search in the first page results of your search (mostly authentic and credible websites are displayed on the first page). Another tip is to change your search terms like ‘freelance’ ‘telecommuting’ ‘remote’. Modifying your search terms can give you more specified and good results.
I find many legitimate jobs on some excellent work-at-home forums. Forums are a great way to explore fresh job leads (they can be unresearched or unverified), it works as a crowdsourced platform, people find jobs and post them there.
There are many forums which are exclusively for work from home jobs, like WAHM, workersonboard, etc. The one thing you need to remember with these forums is that always do your research about the job posted.
Personally speaking, I have found many new online jobs through google alerts. So, how does that work? You go to google alerts and set up an alert for terms like ‘work from home jobs’ or ‘online jobs’ or any term which closely relates to the type of job you are searching for.
Once that’s done, you will start getting latest news and articles about your alerts right into your inbox. I find this very convenient because I get all the targeted results to my email, so I can go through them without trying to filter them again.
Do you know that you can search for authentic work-at-home jobs on Twitter? You definitely can! There are a couple of things you should be doing to find the right kind of jobs.
First, follow the work-at-home companies that you know of. Usually, these companies post fresh jobs on Twitter (this platform has a lot of fresh content than other social media). Secondly, do your searches with the right hashtags, like #workfromhome, #freelance, #hustle, etc. In this way, you get the right kind of search results showing the jobs you want.
Sign up for Newsletters
This again is another great tip, whenever you find a good blog/website or a job board, just sign up for their newsletter. The chances are that they send out jobs in their newsletters. I send out a weekly newsletter to my readers with exclusive jobs and other work from home opportunities.
That way you get targeted jobs in your inbox, and you don’t need to have a look through million websites. A quick tip I want to share is, sign up for a good number of websites, do good research about the jobs you get and have a separate email address for this purpose, as you don’t want to fill up your inbox.
Though the web is full of work-at-home scams, there are some great blogs which have very useful information about work from home opportunities. These blogs regularly update articles about work-at-home jobs, side hustles, home businesses.
If you are looking for some very legitimate and useful info on making money from home, then you need to get this list of blogs. I am listing some of my favorite work from home blogs below, make sure to visit them regularly for fresh jobs and other online options.

Freelance projects are great to get started when you want to work from home. Freelancing is a perfect way to test the waters before you jump into full-time work from home positions. You can get an idea about the kind of work schedule you will have and the working method.
There are many authentic freelance websites like Upwork, Freelancer.com, Toptal, Guru, etc. You will need to register, take some tests to show your proficiency and bid on projects. It might take some time to get started on freelancing websites, but it can be a great starting place.
This is another option for searching for good work-at-home jobs, especially when you are searching for your particular location. But keep in mind that Craigslist is quite famous for scams as much as legitimate jobs. The way I see it, there are scams everywhere, you just have to verify the jobs and be careful with the process.
The process to apply is quite simple, you will have to go on your location and type in the jobs you are looking for, and you get the relevant results. Once again I want to remind you, be watchful of the scams and verify the job listings.
While you are considering work-at-home jobs, you can also try some very profitable home businesses like virtual assisting, bookkeeping, having an e-commerce store, Amazon FBA, etc. These are not your traditional work-at-home jobs, but the biggest factor that propels many to start home businesses is the income potential.
If you start with the right training and guidance, you have a good chance to make a great income from home with these online businesses.
It is quite overwhelming for many to search for real work-at-home jobs, but if you use the right ways and watch out for the scams, you can land a good online job within a short period of time.
